Hindsight and all that

If only I'd know what it would be like at work today I might not have gotten out of bed. Catching up on FmA manga and just re-watched the end of the series. I wish I hadn't come to this so late and the fandom was still in it's heyday. But I still see a lot of activety in the comms and that makes me glad.

I seriously need to catch up on the manga. I think I'm behind by a couple of chapters now.

I kind of got annoyed with the whole cliffhanger between Ed and Kimbley (I don't know if you read that yet so I won't be more specific).

I have it, I just haven't really sat down to focus on it. What did you find annoying about the cliffhanger?

Mostly that it was a NON-cliffhanger posing as a real one.

We were left with the question: OMG will ED LIVE???

Pshaw -- of course he will. The whole plot that Arakawa has been building for 70+ chapters relies on him surviving. She's not going to ditch him now. Okay, maybe he will journal through the underworld or have some deus ex machina show up to save his butt, but he's not actually in any PHYSICAL danger. It bothered me that with all of Arakawa's skill, she used such a blatant, hackneyed sweeps-style attempt to provoke tension in the reader.

So I still have to go dig up the scanalation for how Ed actually gets himself out of that trap. I suspect that one of those redstones is used, but maybe Arakawa will surprise me. Maybe he wasn't actually fatally injured after all. Maybe Al gets to put Ed's soul into a suit of armor... but probably not.

Yeah, it's almost as if she's running out of ideas and that really makes me sad/frightens me for this incredible epic. Since we talked I went and looked at the latest chapter, I won't ruin it for you, but there is survival!
