Choose your own adventure: option 3

Dec 31, 2010 20:40

because of the votes for option 3, here is that part, enjoy!

“Look at me, Paul, I’m gonna do a real cool flip like they do in gymmastis!” she says with that slight lisp that all 7-year-olds have.  I love the way she says “gymnastics”, it is just so darned cute.

“Katy, it is dangerous to jump around like that!  Please don’t jump!” I plead, knowing that this will lead to injury and big trouble for me.

“But I wanna jump!  I wanna be like Superman!” she says, putting her arms out in front of her like she is flying.  This isn’t going to be easy, I figure.  Katy is pretty stubborn when she wants to jump around and play, and getting her mind off of it usually requires…on no!  I groan, I know what I need to do, but I don’t wanna do it.

“If you come down, I will play tea party with you!” I say with as much fake enthusiasm as I can muster.

“REALLY?!” Katy positively squeals with glee.  She gets off the table, and runs to her room.   This is going to suck, but at least she will be happy and stay out of trouble.  I turn off my Xbox, the light seems to say “You are leaving me for a tea party?!”.

“Yes I am,” I mumble to the system, as the power fades from it, and the light goes out.  I close my eyes and breathe slowly, preparing myself for the tea party.  Katy rushes in the room.

“Everything is ready!  Mister Snuggles the Bearbarian and Petunia the rabbit are waiting for us!  We better hurry!  Mister Snuggles gets mad if you keep him waiting,” she pulls my arm and as we get to the stairs, I make her hold on to the railing to make sure she does not get hurt.

We sit down on stools that make sense for Katy and stuffed animals, but make my knees touch my chest as I hunch over the table ready for tea.  I feel like a giant at this table, well a giant or the Hulk.  HULK THIRSTY!  HULK WANT TEA OR HULK SMASH!  HULK FEEL LIKE PRETTY LADY! I think to myself and chuckle.  Katy doesn’t notice as she hands me a cup with imaginary tea.

“Now remember to be nice to Mister Snuggles, he really likes you, Paul!” Katy says, waving to Mr. Snuggles, who sat resolutely, almost stoically, on a stool.  He has blue fur and a chain mail link vest that I made for him.  It took me forever to make it, and I was going to use it in my Dungeons and Dragons campaign, but Katy wanted it so much, and her birthday was coming up, so I relented and gave it to her.

Mr. Snuggles had liked me ever since.

We drink tea until 9PM, and Katy is almost asleep.  I hear the key in the door, but Katy is already asleep at the table.  I pick her up and put her in the bed.  I figure I will explain to Mom and Dad how we were playing so late that she didn’t have time to get changed.

“Hello, we’re ho-ome!  Sorry we came home so early, but the waiter spilled something on my dress and I didn’t want it to stain too badly,” Mom yells in that sing-song tune that says she had a really good night and maybe a bit to drink.

“I’m up here, just checking on Katy and cleaning up a bit,” I say.  Mom and Dad come up and meet me in Katy’s room.

“You played Tea Party with her?!” Mom says, shocked looking at me with a huge purple stain on her blue dress.  I am not at all surprised by her shock, I mean, my hatred for Tea Party is pretty legendary.  Dad gives me an “atta boy!” and a punch in the arm.  I am sure he will play some catch with me later to make sure my sister doesn’t “sissify” me, as he calls it, in his half-joking voice.

As I go into my room, my parents praising me all the way (a new experience for me), I hear a small pebble hit my window. I look out the window and see Ben, my best friend, waving frantically for me.  I open the window by sliding it up, hoping my parents do not hear it scratch and squeal.

“Hey Ben, what are you doing here, and why didn’t you just knock on the door? I ask hurriedly.

“Dude, it is pretty late, past 9, there is no way your Dad would let me in.  ‘Sides, I need to tell you something awesome!  They added Street Fighter 4 to the arcade!  We gotta go play before everybody finds out and there are crowds!” Ben swung his arms in a “let’s go!” motion.

So Conscience, do I go out with Ben to the arcade, or do I stay in for the night?

You should go out with Ben, you deserve a night out!

Stay in for tonight.  You had a long night of Tea Party, it probably wore you out.
