Arrival!

Joanne was really damn tired of running. She'd been on the run from the Wardens non-stop for three days and she still hadn't really gotten anywhere. She thought, since there was no way in hell she was going to get on a major air carrier with the way the Feds were on her tail, that she'd get on a plane in some teensy town just off the highway and ( Read more... )

Empty terminals were painfully void of interesting material, and his lovely assistant was MIA. Still, Edison had his camera, and someone had just gotten off a plane. She seemed a bit frazzled. He hoped she wouldn't mind the distraction.

"Hi!" he greeted her, camera on his shoulder and already rolling. "Edison Carter; Network Twe- uh..." He trailed off, then grinned. "Well, nevermind the network. You mind if I ask you a few questions?"

Joanne gave the man an "are you kidding me?" look. What, the Wardens had outed her to the news outlets now? She didn't even...she figured that they'd handle her internally. Now the news?

"I, look. I didn't do whatever it is that they said I did, okay? No comment."

Because it was quiet and provided a broad view of the airfield, the concourse was an ideal nook into which James Bond frequently chose to disappear.

Generally, the only circumstance under which he might be disturbed was the arrival of a plane. And it just so happened that today was one of those days. Not that he minded terribly. After seven months, a prisoner welcomed the occasional distraction.

Joanne needed to know where to go get food, a shower and how to get to Oklahoma. She didn't really have a set order for those things, so when she saw the guy reading the magazine, she cleared her throat conspicuously and shifted her bag to her other shoulder.

"Uh, can you help me?"

He put an arm over the back of his seat when the newcomer spoke, looking her up and down very briefly before answering. "I'll do what I can," he said with a small, amiable smile. "What is it you need?"

"Food, shower and to know where the hell I am. Any of the three would be great," Joanne said, watching him. He was British. That was different.
