The idea was pretty simple. Of course, Bryce said that a lot, and his ideas were always needlessly complicated. Need to ask the unconcious reporter a question? Why wake him up when we can just scan his brain onto a computer? Simple, really

Interviewing people was definitely the perfect job for Kaylee in absence of a ship. She was friendly - almost excessively so - and one of the best things (she'd thought) about Serenity was that it got to go to so many new places and meet so many new people. She hadn't really had a chance to do that here, and having an excuse to have a chance to meet people was real nice. And she could be nosy!

Not that she was naturally nosy. Just curious. Real curious.

"Okay," she said to Ed. "I think I got it. You reckon Max'll come out once he sees some interviews?" She bit her lip. What if she couldn't think of any questions?

Yeah, she oughtn't really have a problem with that.

"Yeah, that's the idea," he said with a sigh. "He's used to having everyone watch him. I'm hoping a little competion will draw him back out."

"That makes sense," Kaylee said. "Dunno if I'd make very good competition, though. I ain't never done this kinda thing before...well, when Serenity made stops for passengers, I'd ask some questions and try to get people talkin'. But 'side from that, not so much."

Despite her worry, she was already looking around for someone to interview. Couldn't hurt to try, right?

"You're already a natural," Edison reassured her. Then had to remind himself that he might be her great-great-great-great-great grandfather. "Just pretend that's what you're doing here, and don't worry about messing up." Even though we'll be live, he added silently. Just don't think about that. "I'll be right here with you."
