So I was scrolling through a number of HP communities that I used to frequent when I was active in the fandom several years ago and a lot of them are dead. What are the good, active HP communities on LJ right now? Or has (what's left of) the fandom moved elsewhere?

The fandom hasn't died down so much as it's ... taken to its room. So to speak. I think we've reached Etewaf, if you know what I'm saying.

ontdhp makes a valiant attempt at being active, and we respond in kind. Let's see... there's also the girlslash community. Other than that, I'm not entirely sure. OH! A lot of Potterheads have slythered down to Tumblr to keen and wail about the last movie!

But yeah, I think the strain of fighting has gotten on the last nerve, and we're all just taking to our little pockets of fandom to sit and renounce the rest of the family. Except that great few months when we sorta came together to have a collective snark at Twatlight. That was nice.

Where the HECK have you been?!

I know I've migrated out of the HP area into another of my fandom loves, and haven't written too much HP lately -- a good bit of that is my disgust with JKR's internal logic, or lack thereof, in the last book and movies. *sigh*

I suppose once I get over being mad at the woman, I'll migrate back to Snape and the Weasley Twins, who are my faves. And trust me, in MY universe, none of them died.

Depends on what you're looking for? A lot of shipping comms are still very active, and the newsletters. Right now, it's all the end of DH (movie) talk and next gen is the Next Big Thing. ;P Crack Broom, Hogwarts Daily, The Snitch, all still very active.

You're right--things have quietened down. The only real comm activity I see recently is ficfests, which are transitory in nature.

In the meantime, it's great to see you back. I just came across "Very Secret LiveJournals" the other day while rearranging my files and wondered what the heck had happened to you.
