SWIMMING!

Apr 23, 2012 08:12

This morning has been odd. I am completely on a nocturnal type schedule recently and can't seem to rectify this, so Matt and I have been hanging out a lot by night. At 5AM we ended up at McDonalds (I DO IT FOR THE HASH BROWNS, OKAY.), and I consumed two things that are almost certain to end badly for me, sickness-wise: well, hash browns, duh, and ( Read more... )

Chlorine is basically why I stopped swimming at the local gym during my lunch breaks. It was fun, but not knowing if there'd be an open lane and constantly smelling chlorinated was too much for me. It can be really hard to push yourself to exercise when you're not feeling well, but I always enjoy the satisfied exhaustion afterwards so I try to keep that in mind.

The not knowing if there is an open lane would definitely be annoying/tough. Strangely the gym was totally packed this morning but my roommate and I managed to find a lane to claim regardless--maybe we were just lucky.

Does the gym not have a shower facility? I felt chlorinated after my shower but that's because I didn't bring any soap or shampoo or anything with me. I feel like if you showered with soap after swimming, the chlorinated smell/feeling would be significantly less.

My standby for exercise has always been my bicycle, but as I started getting sicker last year I started to end up stranded random places at random times because I would get sick on the way and would feel too ill to venture back for awhile, so I got kind of scared away from it--I should probably suck it up and try to get back to biking all over the place, though--the satisfied exhaustion feeling is the best. :)

There are showers in the locker rooms, but the water is very cold if anyone else has been showering & I did have soap, but I just felt dry after. I guess my skin is just extra sensitive to chlorine.

that is awesome! grease, ketchup, and iced caffeine are the best inventions known to man.

And swimming is the best! I'm glad you got to do that!!

Thanks!! :D

I actually can't stand ketchup though. I try it about once per year just to make sure I didn't randomly start liking it, but nope, no dice so far ><; Nobody in my family really likes it either, so I didn't grow up with it, and maybe that's why. Ranch, mustard, or BBQ sauce are where the dipping's at for me. xD
