Today, Andres and I took one of our animals to the vet for the first time. Ever since we got him, Melo has exhibited signs of partial facial paralysis, one of the results of which is that he can't close his left eye. This had mostly seemed to be an annoyance for him moreso than a real problem, until the past week when the eye got noticeably more ( Read more... )

I've just noticed that we now have five members of our tiny French community . I knew about the silent jetaimerai , but we have also other non-posters too :-
elleniki
j-prof
nikullin
vivian212
j-prof is apparently a friend to me .
I have some wonderful Russian friends , including a brilliant cookery writer , but LJ warned about lurkers who never communicate and have thousands of "friends". If the Cyrillic alphabet weren't so strange and the language more complicated than Latin - with addititional locative and instrumental cases - I'd try to learn it.
¿Qué debemos hacer?
:D

Me'n Melo could've been Palsy Pals. Glad it worked out, though.

Haha, why do you say that? Do you have issues with one of your eyes? o.o;

I had some partial facial paralysis too a couple years ago when I had Lyme Disease. There was a point where we both went to Harvard Square and sat by a flower shop and I was self-conscious about smiling weird. They gave me some Ibuprofin for the inflamed facial nerve and some eye drops and Lyme Disease meds and it went away after a couple weeks. It made me think of that when you mentioned Melo's malady.

Ah yes I remember that! It would be nice if Melo's paralysis also went away with treatment, though I doubt it. His eye has been like this for 6 months already, I'd be surprised if the damage done could be similarly reversed.

I'm glad your facial muscles are working again though :D
