Haha, so I wrote this entry last night, but apparently passed out in front of my computer before submitting it. I'm just going to post it the way it was, rather than going back and changing time references to make them more accurate to this morning ( Read more... )

Yay for gender neutrality indeed!

I also think it's different when it's an employee, somehow. Like if you are wearing a uniform or a nametag, then that's an instant excuse to be a man in a ladies-only room, cause it's understood that you're making it better, cleaning it, fixing it, etc, which tends to be what people want.

THe only time I've seen women get pissy/weird about there being a male attendant in a female-only area was at the gym, where occasionally men would have to come in to clean or fix something and women would occasionally not see the warning signs and be like "omg male!". Though I think it's a little different between a bathroom with stalls and like, an open area where women are changing and getting naked. xD

Glad you got the viola, you need happy things in your life!

How goes the doctor-hunt, btw?

I've been in marked-male restrooms before, but usually only if it's single occupancy. And I get really nervous about it. I don't like feeling nervous about it and hope that there are more unisex restrooms in the future where everyone can go in and use it like it's no big deal. I can totally imagine dudes getting all "I don't want women seeing my junk!" about urinals in a unisex restroom, but there are ways around that (small barriers between each one), and why does it matter, if other dudes could potentially see in a "normal" restroom anyway?

Thank you!! Sorry for taking so long to answer this comment. >The doctor hunt is going okay. I saw a PCP a week or so ago and I didn't like him at all. He was all business and didn't let me bring up any concerns I had, just answering mostly yes/no/limited information questions from the get-go and then the appointment was over. The good part is that now I can get his office to renew my prescriptions and that he referred me to a gastroenterologist, which I desperately needed. The annoying part is that he said he was going to send me a packet with info about gastroenterologists that are covered by my insurance and let me pick one, but instead of doing that he flat-out referred me to a specific office that's really far away and inconvenient. I might contact that office and see if they have partners that are closer to where I live, or something...I've been so caught up in moving over the past week or two that I haven't really moved on that, but as of yesterday pretty much everything is unpacked so I have no real excuse ( ... )

Ah, yeah, they'll do that. It's convenient for the doctor because they have worked with that office before, but it's really not an issue for you to go to an insurance-covered gastroenterologist in any other office. You do need to do leg-work and call your insurance about who is covered, I'm surprised he said he'd do that for you (maybe he is partially awesome?). The only issue with that is making sure you get referrals, if needed.

I know!! It was a really great find. Apparently the brand I got isn't very good, so that's probably why it ended up being cheap but *shrugs* I don't really care...it sounds fine to me and it keeps its tuning, that's good enough for me. :) I started playing viola when I was around 8 or 9 years old and played in school orchestras until I was 14...at that point I completely quit, gave my viola back & everything. The conductor wasn't very encouraging, I was never particularly talented, and in high school I decided I'd rather take 2 languages than 1 language and orchestra practice. :P It literally took me until I was 19 or 20 before I started really missing the viola. When I met my boyfriend, he still had an old violin from when he was in orchestra ages ago, so I had kind of been teaching myself to play it. But I never stopped missing the viola, especially compared to the squeaky violin, so when I saw the deal, I couldn't not be obsessed! Do you play any instruments ( ... )

You're making me want to pick up the oboe again... and the piano... and maybe break out the tape of vocal exercises... it's contagious! Stop the spread!

Do itttt! Music is so fun. :D In my room I currently have 4 instruments: viola, violin, guitar, and keyboard (that I don't even know how to play at all, I just fool around with it or use it for tuning, mostly...), and sometimes i just get them all out and experiment for awhile, it's really a fantastic way to waste time :3
