Also, notice how the worst thing possible for a girl is that her life might be ruined by being somehow sexually (? not clarified) photographed)... and the worst thing for a guy is that he didn't protect a girl from a possibly awful situation. Like, doesn't the second ad raise the question of-- why couldn't the girl get home herself?
My brother used to tell me about a radio ad he heard all the time in Boston that went, as though on an answering machine, "Remember that time we were hanging out in _______'s house and we got really high... and we, you know... without protection? Well... I'm pregnant." and my brother said he'd laugh every time, because pot makes him the opposite of horny.
Last thing I want to mention is that both the anti-drug campaigns of late AND the anti-drinking ads (especially in The UK, where they actually have a know-your-limits ad campaign) have a tendency to be sexist and directed towards women. It's easier to tell women that they'll get raped, pregnant, or a bad reputation, and the campaigns tend to ( ... )
