Almiral Norrington?
Hello. Talking about Norrington in PotC AWE.
Here is a transcription of the trailer of PotC III that sounds really interesting, in wich they say that "Almiral" Norrington is in his ship. Why "almiral"?
Is it because of his uniform? In PotC CotBP Norrington wears an almiral uniform: in the ceremony of promotion. Commodores doesn't have a distinctive uniform, they are captains promoted to a higher command. He wears a captain uniform in the movie, excepting in the ceremony. I haven't seen the trailer myself, so I don't know which uniform he wears in it.
And, more important, almirals don't comand a ship. Ships are commanded by captains and captains follow orders from an almiral. Commodores does command a ship, because they are promoted captains and have command over a small number of ships, two or three.
I think the person who transcribed the trailer (Jo Blo) said "almiral" just because fans talks about it. But in IMdB they say Commodore Norrington. So, unless somebody calls him almiral in the trailer, I tend to think that he'll remain a commodore.
