Perusing old entries from my xanga (circa last December to May 2004) made me realize that college has changed me. Specifically, I have less of a sense of humor and am doing a lot less with my time ( Read more... )

oh yes, it was this:

it is JOE'S, not JO'S. JO is short for JOANN, the name of a woman who stays at home and sews quilts for her myriad of homeless cats that she has adopted. JOE, on the other hand, is short for JOSIAH, the biblical figure who decided to open a fast food restaurant on the brown campus and sell us overpriced iced tea.

Joanne is actually my mother's name, so I am well aware that Jo is short for Joann(e) or Jo(h)anna, etc. I have issues, though, making Josiah into Joe. Joe makes me think of mob bosses, Josiah makes me think of Puritans. Jo... is a compromise.
