World War One: Simple Version

Increasingly over the years and definitely recently, I've noticed how much of a history buff I am....

Mm, my days for the past week can be described thusly: methodically reading the newspaper and Time magazine, playing isketch/text twist/Risk online, working out, and the occasional morning hour walk. All of the summer reading books sit in a pile on a table somewhere. The SAT II books remain on their shelves.

It's a good routine, admittedly not a truly productive one. My shinning moment may be when I half-heartedly jotted down things to put into a college essay about my interest in chemistry.

Today, my dad and I dashed into the library five minutes before closing. Upon my last visit, I managed to locate the aisle on the second floor containing history books about WWI/WWII and such which I had giddily browsed. This time, I glanced at the adjacent aisles to find that they held books on the numerous history of other countries, and I immediately died on the spot. Wide-eyed and hand over my mouth, I crept towards those beautiful books, so aware that I must have looked like a fool staring reveringly at books that I checked to see if anyone else had noticed a strange girl. (in retrospect, given the hour, I should have known no one was really around save the librarians who must encounter such behavior from time to time if they really paid attention) I left, clutching to my chest a book on the subject of the French Occupation during WWII written by a Briton born after that time of the occupation who also does not claim to be a historian. Though a description like that made me wonder slightly about its credibility, I strolled out of the library feeling satisfied and perhaps adding another item to the collection of books which I may or may not read.

history, library, life
