Dir en grey Nov 2 Houston experience
Alright so I never really got around to talking about the Dir en grey show here in Houston. And we're already half way through the month. >>
LOL. Anyways...it's never too late I suppose.
Well on Monday 2nd of November I woke up bright and early at 5:30 in the morning. I am normally NOT a morning person but I was so excited I was smiling away like an idiot as I got ready. Wore my TRTA Tour Shirt and a pair of confy jeans and Converse.
And then grabbed my crap and put it all in the car. :D
My momma made me breakfast :) and I made myself a couple of sandwiches for lunch and dinner.
And then I took off. I DETEST Houston morning traffic. It got really bad when i was going to hit 610 loop and I45 ugh...but no worries I managed to get there. I was lucky I got there and made the line right behind liberationchord's group. :D And also talked a bit with her on the phone since she was at the George R Brown convention center. And then called my obessessively protective parents to tell them I didn't die on the way to the concert. >> It was 7:40ish AM when I got there.
And then liberationchordshowed up and we talked a bit and just kind of settled for the long wait. Then another chick came...I can not remember her name for the life of me. I'm so embarrassed since we talked the whole freaking day. And there was Lingling(sp?) and Christi or Christine they were with Maria.
So we just spend the entire morning talking and every hour or so more people came. I caught a glimpse of kyosmashand their group they were up ahead of us.
So the rest of the day was spent speaking about various things and going to restrooms. LOL. One shopping center didn't have toilet paper it's a good thing I had some tissues with me. :)
And we saw the bus when they got there. I laughed and told some of the girls to not run after the bus. xD Nobody did but there was this one chick she was small and had a very nice Nikon camera I fell in love with it. Had 15X Zoom and wow...I wanted it I wish I had had the time to play with it a little but she wanted to get shots of the guys. LOL. She started moving to the back of the line with the camera and it was funny since when she finally got close to the bus; the bus moved. The dude driving couldn't park correctly so he had to go and around again and then get situated.
For a time there were a couple big trucks coming and going since there was a warehouse in front of us. I had parked my car across the street and for a few moments I thought one of those stupid trucks was going to hit my car so I flashed to see that he didn't hit my car. They never did thankfully. :)
The guys did not come out. Only, it was either Kaoru's tech or Shinya's drum tech, one of them came out and he stood under a tree talking on the phone.
And then around maybe 3 they started unloading their trailer and went inside to set up. During which we got to hear them setting up. :) And the first people to get off the bus were Die and Shinya later followed by Toshiya and Kaoru and then Kyo last but I didn't get to see him. A little later we could hear them warming up. We caught the distinct melody of Vinushka and I started to feel a little uneasy...well not bad but I started to feel the butterflies. :)
I ended up only eating 1 sandwich and the other I just through into my trunk. and Drank some water to make sure I would be ready for the show.
And then we made sure to put our shit in my car and get ready for the show. :D
I was anxious...
There was a point where me and Maria looked up we noticed that the line had disappeared and for a few seconds I thought that they were already letting people in. >>
That was the fastest I had ever gotten up and ran. LOL. Our running caused like a chain reaction since everyone behind us soon caught up with us running.
In the end security told us to move back so we had to move back...we ended up in the same place we had been sitting in. >>
LOL.
And then a guy came by giving purple wrist bands to those who were 21. :D Maria, Linling, Christine and me all got ours and Maria even took a pic of our hands lol. (Hey Maria can you send me the pic please I want it.)
And then finally the line started to move. They just used metal detectors, they didn't even check our bags. And then finally they checked our tickets and we were inside.
I chilled and waited I was not going to fight for the rail. Instead I went to the restroom and then went and bought myself an Amarillo Sour and chilled and I talked to a couple who were also waiting for everyone to cram into the front. She was nice. She was like 'I came to listen and enjoy. Not to fight off people trying to get in front of me.'
This was the longest wait of my life I swear. They let us in at 7 the fucking show didn't start until 9. >> Srly.
I had finished my drink and went to get another one. >> Fucking Amarillo Sours were $5 a piece man...oh well they were good. :D
I saw very interesting people in there. There were a couple of Asian girls huddled to my right they were acting kind of weird. >> And there was this little overweight (not saying anything bad I'm overweight too) Lolita with a Hide-sama plushy...she quite frankly scared me. And there were some Mexicans who downright looked like they could be my brother's friends. LOL. A BUNCH of parents were hanging around the bar.
Finally the lights dimmed and screaming and cheering ensued. We were fucking ansty man we were calling them out since earlier.
And then Sa Bir started. Oh man that was...I could feel it and my heart was racing. We were cheering as loud as fuck and then we got even louder when the guys came on stage.
And then Shokubeni started and the rest is a blur. There was too much going on. Gosh I was headbanging so hard I was glad I had stayed behind since I actually had space to move. I was a bit in disbelief when Shokubeni played...lol. only for a few seconds though. And then I was into it.
People were saying Kyo wasn't moving much...I honestly can't remember. Toshiya was drawing my attention most of the time when I wasn't headbanging.
There were a few instances where the crowd really astonished me. During Kyo's Solos they were relatively quiet yes there were random screams here and there but over all the crowd was really respectful. :D
Grief. 8D Kyo gifted us with shouting "HOUSTON" at us. I freaking yelled out. I always smile like an idiot remembering that.
The mosh pit was awesome from what I could see of it. There was an instance during I think Reiketsu where it got outrageously big.

Oo Yeah ok so the mosh pit was NOT oval but it did extend as far as that. I told my brother and he really regrets not having been able to go.
Between the main set and encore I went to get some water. Crowd started by cheering out "ENCORE" and some dude near me was yelling the Japanese version of it. >>
And it went to some meaningless screaming and cheering.
And then "ENCORE" again
And some more meaningless cheering.
And then we started calling out by member.
Kyo was the first. :) For some people it sounded like they were yelling Kill instead of Kyo
Then Toshiya. 8D We were loud for him.
Die was next.
Kaoru after him
and Shinya was last but his were loud as hell while Die and Kaoru's were kind of weak they were kind of garbled since they came 1 right after the other. LOL. I remember some chick calling him Hurrican Shinya or something. :D
And then we called for the whole band. DIR EN GREY!
and then after there was random screams from people and then a whole cheer from everyone when they came back on stage. :D
OMG when Kigan started....I don;'t think I've ever screamed that loud. I was so fucking HAPPY! 8D I wanted to laugh at some people's expressions...not everyone knows Diru's older songs so people looked baffled and some guys were like...how do we mosh to this? lol. they found a way anyway.
The Final was nice. Not my favorite. >> I think it's time that they retire the song for bit so people don't get tired of it like I did Dead Tree. Dead Tree...wonderful song but they killed it. Like really killed it.
Although it was very touching since almost everyone was singing...at least the girls were I couldn't see any of the guys singing though.
Gaika, the Last song Kyo only shouted it once at us. But damn that song is just awesome. And the mosh pit was going full force. lol. The guys and some girls were going nuts in that mosh pit. :D And so was I, I almost gave myself whiplash. lol.
So show ended and the guys threw pics and Shinya his drumsticks I was hoping to maybe catch something but my luck is I never get stuff like that. So... oh well.
I met up with Maria again and surprise surprise the band born happened to be chilling at the back with the soundcheck guys. Since she worked oni-con and born was there as well one of them recognized her. I fould truly cool seeing another Japanese band enjoying Diru's show.
We didn't stick around long security was ushering everyone out.
We went out back though and waited around I had gone to my car to get my copy of FOVS to hopefully get it signed....I asked Nora she told me I should ask the guys....wow yeah. LOL. I was NOT going to bother them. So instead I just waited. I saw Die talking to one of the pro photographers his hair was up in a ponytail. :p
Meanwhile there was some asian chicks selling the picks they had caught. I didn't get one. lol. and then security kept telling us that the band was coming out from a different door. *rolls eyes* In the end they gave up. Saw Rick pass by as he had the trailer opened and they moved us so they could start loading the equipment.
Nora kept zipping back and forth and then she led the band out, except for Die. Kaoru was first some guy yelled something at him and Kaoru waved, Kyo was following; wearing his Adiddas track suit and a towel over his head. Again a guy standing 2 ft from me yelled "KYO WHY THE TOWEL? DON'T WORRY I STILL LOVE YOU"
Shinya and then Toshiya. :) and then we left.
I helped everyone get their stuff out of my car. Since Maria needed to get to the Greyhound Station and Linling and Christine needed a taxi to get to the airport since they were flying back home to I think Minnesota. I got in my car and watched for a bit and then I left.
And that's it. :)
