I agree with those who have already spoken, although I have not been here long.  This sounds very much like a ploy to get us to fight one another.  It is obvious neither side, this Post Man or this Lucy, have any concept of leadership.  However, it sounds like they do have a very good concept of how to manipulate, as well as how to act like

Despite how needlessly preachy that was, think I'll clue you in on something.

Neither the Post Man or Lucy are trying to give the impression of a leader. They're trying to show us they have the control we don't. That might sound like they're trying to play the leader. But really? They're just showing off and trying to force us into compliance.

Perhaps. But one can't force people into anything if they can't lead. Well, unless they desire to only do so through fear and pain, but even that is only so effective.

You're making assumptions about what they actually want. All Lucy wants is to keep us alive. I expect what the Postman wants is to kill us.
