You know what I think you do need to go away, and I know your parents aren't on board with it, but if its something you want to do then make it happen. If there is a will there is a way. Maybe you just need to push the date of your departure so you can get the money needed for your flight and what not. Or maybe try sitting your parents down and talking to them, really let them know this is something that you need to do.
Anyway I'm here if you need to vent I'm a good listener

Oh and never feel bad about bringing up your brother, that's a huge deal and something something that will be with you forever. I can't even imagine losing one of my siblings.
