Tonight was the print sale at PAFA. It was my first real art sale. I made twice as much money in one night than I make working for a week at my "real job

I think what people are saying might be a little too cruel and should be more pointed.. it's all of you'll have good days and bad days when selling your art.. but also, if you don't give up and have fun, none of it will matter.
How wonderful! Fantastic! Congratulations, and just know that posts like this one is the best inspiration for other artists (ahem!) who have been told the same things. You're awesome! That's all. You just rock! <3
Thank you! :) I think what Andy Warhol said is really true: if you just keep working, if you work as hard as you can to reach your full potential, that energy really attracts people. Being an artist is just like any other job: if you keep working, if you're relentless and uncomprimising, then you will ultimately persevere. Unfortunately, there's a lot of nay-sayers who are always telling artists like us otherwise, but they can pick a finger, sit on it, and spin. ;P
(By the way, if you haven't read The Philosophy of Andy Warhol, you totally should. It gave me a whole new perspective on our field, and it is totally not intimidating to me anymore. Being an artist is possible. It is a viable career choice and lifestyle, no matter what people say. People spend a lot of time talking about how being an artist is so hard, you can't support yourself, it's a daydream, blahdeeblahblahBLAH... But guess what. They talk too much, because it's just work that they don't want to do. You just have to have the right attitude.)
I went to look at your art of Flickr. Jesus, you're talented! I think that's the missing piece, perhaps, for a lot of artists - it's having talent and KNOWING that you have talent. I was amazed by the pictures, and annoyed when Flickr was looping back and I was once again seeing mom with the butterflies or something (though I definitely didn't mind the kitty pictures and you seem lovely as well)... I just wanted to see it again. Seriously, not to overgush here, but you're GOOD!!!
Wow... thank you so much. Your praise really put some wind in my sails to help me push through these last few days of the semester. It's a rainy, icky, sleety day here in Philadelphia, and you put a big smile on my face. :)
