I come from upstate NY.  When I say 'upstate', I don't mean Westchester, and I don't mean Binghamton.  When I say upstate, I mean Central NY, in the Mohawk Valley, an hour to either Albany or Syracuse.

Many a joke has been made about the people who live up there ("Its like Deliverance on snow tires!", etc), and occasionally its true.

Joe Hill the author (not the union activist) is just so darned good.  I honestly think that writing is in his blood (his father is Stephen King).  He writes in the way that when you finish one of his stories, you go "God damnit, I wish I'd thought of that..."  His stories are engrossing, thought provoking, and just draw you so far in, that you ( Read more... )

I've never really liked opera that much.  I'll admit that I'm one of those people who goes "Opera? Ew...long, boring...did I mention boring?"

I was using Pandora.com earlier, and a work by the East Village Opera Company came up.  It was their version of Va Tosca, which I think is usually sung by a man, but their version is by a woman.
