Greenwich

Greenwich (the bloody British pronounce it, as well as most other words, wrongly` [gri:nich] :)) is remembered by a picturesque river-boat way of getting there, passing under all the London bridges (and yes, the symbol of London, the Tower Bridge, is beautiful indeed), by a strangely familiar and mesmerizing palace complex designed at the very end of the XVII-beginning of the XVIII century by Christopher Wren (and then the source of familiarity is revealed: this is the very same period when my beloved Saint-Petersburg is being built in the same majestic baroque style!), by the wonderful park and lawn going up the hill, toward the Royal Observatory (and from where opens the unforgettable view of the palace, Thames, and "downtown",  modern part of London with the skyscrapers), and the very educational museum of the Observatory (where I have finally started to make some sense of how the geographical coordinates are being calculated and what is their connection with time, time zones, and navigational chronometers). Wonderful experience!
