A short story of the Fourth Age, inspired by penknife's Nothing Gold Can Stay, though you don't have to have read it first.

Because the great stories never end....

I'm glad you think so! Your story is amazing.

There is one still who could tell him the story of the leaf, and perhaps he will: Durin.

Theodred is a quarter Elven, and he feels it even when he has no name for it. A token meant to come to him, indeed, half Gondorian, a quarter Elven and a quarter Rohirrim. He is this world to come.

And the leaf -- there is still one in Middle Earth who could tell him about the leaf: Durin.

LOVE this! What a fitting thing, to come back to the leaf trod down into mud...to be picked up long generations later and again cherished. Wonder if he will ever know of its history and what it once meant to a Hafling. ;)
