Things to write home about. . .

After getting about 3 hrs sleep this morning (last minute cleaning and final shutting of the suitcases), everything’s gone sweetly so far. Breezed through security, tho my new camera took three swiped from the x-ray before they were happy. He was cheerful, said that meant it was made to last.

Had 5 hrs in snowing, blowing, foggy SLC, dearly wanted to call my friends and see if they were available for brunch, but so despise going through security again, I opted for finding a place to curl up and sleep. This airport isn’t arranged well for sleepers, banks of chairs all back to back and every empty spot was an obvious aisle way.

Except for the set of chair units that had to be back to back with a post in between, leaving about an 18” gap. I squeezed in and made myself at home, sleeping on the floor. Did I mention my kinship with derelicts?

Didn’t think anyone would notice. With nothing else to look at, EVERYone noticed. One guy, three rows away asked if I wanted a wake up call. I slept like a rock for about an hour and a half and felt human again. Woke up to a whole new set of people, children hanging over the chair backs giggling at me.

All flights have been fine, one more to go from Atlanta, where I’m sitting and typing, on to Miami, arriving close to midnight, survivable because my body says, “meh, it’s really only 9:00”.

I like this airport. It’s huge and I had to go from Terminal A to Terminal E, (as far as it gets) but on the way found a Burger King that sells Veggie Burgers. Num. Tummy’s happy, though it thinks would have dearly loved a Cinnabon. And I’m finally in a place that only requires my hoody because it’s overly air conditioned. Yay.

Update -- Got bumped! So I'm still in Atlanta. Was going scream about it, but did the math (love that math, you know) and decided getting to a hotel at 10pm instead of 1:30 AM sounded good, fly out tomorrow at 7:40, arrive 9:30, cutting out about 2 hrs of the 3+ hour wait we ALWAYS have, sitting around outside the chainlink looking at the big ship before they let us get on. None of that sounded bad, so here I am.

Early morning to catch that new flight, but it's still all good. Clean and smelling like a rose on 6 DoubleTree pillows. Only one is in a little pillow outfit.
