Only 34? I need to get to a library, stat!

BBC Book list
The BBC believes most people will have only read 6 of the 100 books here. (I totally doubt this actually came from the BBC, but then it is a British-heavy list, so perhaps... still, an entertaining exercise and a good reminder to me to get back to the classics!)

How do your reading habits stack up? )

What an odd list.

I've been a reader all my life and have only read 32 books on the list.

The lit is flawed though:
14 Complete Works of Shakespeare - Most
98 Hamlet - William Shakespeare

What's the list supposed to be?

Yeah, I was confused by that too.

I've read most of Shakespeare's plays (including Hamlet), so I answered yes to both of those.

That's a strange list... a weird mix of classics and best-seller schlock.

And you actually got thru Ulysses? My hat's off to you! ;)

two words: Required. Reading.

Or, alternatively: Book. Report.

One of the few books I have actually hurled against a wall in frustration. I'd imagine House of Leaves would be another. God, I *LOATHE* gimmicky and cutesy modern lit.

But, ironically, Tristram Shandy made for a fantastic movie! ;)

I looked it up on the BBC site and it is apparently taken from their list of the top 100, but it's not exactly the same, which really makes it even odder in my book! I mean, it's clearly based on their list, but not copied - who did that and why?

Oh, and the list was compiled by survey, so that's why the mix of classics and best sellers (I mean really, 1984 and Bridge Jones' Diary? Puh-leeze!)

Really? I would have guessed your # would be much higher - you are generally much better read than I am! Guess your taste runs elsewhere... or you didn't go through the Charles Dickens phase I did as a youngster! lol!

I haven't read a lot of the newer books on the list, plus I've only read War & Peace in terms of Russian lit. ;)

Well that ought to count double, at least!

How's your cold going? We've got it too... Stuart was a whiny mess yesterday, but feeling better today... now it's my turn to whine!

I got 36 and only because I grew up on Brit children's books like the "The Faraway Tree" collection. :D
