Excellent point that I've heard echoed in intergroup Relations class. Why don't "white people" get to be acknowledged as their own group? Lord knows that not too long ago, Russian, Irish, and Italian immigrants were treated the way that Latinos are now, (though granted, now THEY'RE helping with the immigrant prejudice.) Still, it is tough to blanket a race with all the blame for another's hardship. After all, Mexico, Panama, and Columbia have a HOST of political problems that often revolve around oppressing the poorer or ethnically different groups within their own country, hence some of the fleeing, (and don't get me started on the drug trade...)
