Whidbey island. Pick anywhere on the island and you're not far away from Oak Harbor, or a drive/ferry to the mainland. Has a rainforest, and from all I've been on the south end, still hardly civilized compared to a bigger city.

I had no idea it has a rain forest! I have been there, but long ago to all three main parts.
