Memories for A_Facility

 1. Flowers (6)
Kate is kneeling in the flower bed on the side of a retirement home. She's digging a hole in the dirt with a little shovel, placing a small flower bush in the hole once it's done and then pushing the dirt back in the hole. She leans back to admire her work and then grins over at the woman next to her.

"Mommy, look!"

The woman looks over and smiles, or at least it seems like she's smiling. It's hard to tell since the details of her face are a bit blurry like the person who the memory belongs to can't remember the details herself.

"Very good, Katie. I'm sure the people who live here will appreciate it."

The woman's voice is warped too, like it's another detail Kate can't remember.

2. Christmas (7)
Kate's sister, a teenage girl with dark hair dressed in an oversized football jersey, is stretched out on the loveseat in their living room reading a book. There is a large, brightly decorated Christmas tree in the room, a large stack of wrapped presents underneath it. Kate comes running down the stairs and goes to stand in front of the loveseat, staring down at her sister.

"Susie! We have to go to bed!"

Susan doesn't even look up, just keeps reading.

"Why?"

"Because Santa won't come if we don't!"

"Santa's not real, you dweeb. Mom and dad are the ones who put the presents there. They just say it's Santa to mess with you."

"No they don't!"

"Yes, they do."

"No!"

"Yes. You're just too dumb to realize it."

Kate is quiet for a minute, puffing her cheeks out and pouting, before running out of the room.

"Mom! Susan's being mean again!"

3. Puppy (8, claimed)
Kate is walking down a sidewalk in New York, holding one of her father's gloved hands and dressed in her school uniform. It's not normal  for her father to take her to school in the mornings but he is today because her mother's busy. Normally they'd take the car but her mother insisted that they should walk because it's such a nice day. Kate doesn't mind the walking, it gives her a chance to explore some, but her father clearly doesn't like it. They're passing several buildings and Kate is quietly looking around, at least until the window of one of the buildings catches her attention. It's a pet store and there are several puppies playing in the window. She stops and gives her father's hand a tug.

"Can we get one, dad?"

Her father sighs as if just being here right now is causing him great pain and shakes his head.

"No, Katherine. You know how I feel about animals in the house."

He continues walking then, gently tugging her along.

4. Funeral (15)
Kate is in a black dress, standing in a room full of people in front of the coffin holding her mother. She's looking all around like she's searching for someone, noticing her sister talking to some people across the room and going over there. She lightly taps her sister's shoulder to her her attention.

"Where's dad?"

Susan sighs a bit and gives Kate an apologetic smile before answering.

"He's in London."

"He's in London? But this is mom's funeral! How can he be in London and just blow off his wife's funeral?"

"I know you're mad, Kate but...you know dad."

Kate sighs and folds her arms over her chest, glaring at nothing in particular.

"Typical."

5. Excess (15)
Kate is standing in an expensive looking boutique, watching her sister look over a rack of dresses. She hates shopping trips with Susan, they always spend hours and hours in the most pointlessly expensive stores. It's such a waste of time. She makes a face as Susan pulls one of the dresses off the rack and turns to face her. The dress is sleeveless and black, made of some kind of silky material.

"What do you think of this one? It's cute, isn't it?"

Kate picks up the price tag attached to the sleeve of the dress, rolling her eyes a bit.

"Cute, sure. But it's $700, Suze."

"So? Dad can afford it."
"That's not the point. $700 is a lot of money to waste on a dress. There are so many people you could help with that money. If mom were here...."

"But mom isn't here. It's been three months, Kate. Eventually you're going to have to accept that she's gone. Now, go try this on. You'd fill it out way better than I would."

6. Central Park (15, claimed)
She's walking home after trying on her bridesmaid dress with her sister, cutting through Central Park because it's faster. Most people would be wary of the park even in the day but it doesn't seem to bother Kate. She's done it before without any problems, she has no reason to believe there will be a problem now. There's a homeless man begging for money in the park and she stops to give him some before continuing on. Nothing out of the ordinary, just a normal trip home.

As she passes by some high bushes a man comes out from the behind them, one hand over her mouth and the other around her waist as he pulls her into the bushes. He gets her on the ground and she tries to struggle but he's bigger and stronger than her.  She tries to scream but the hand is still over mouth. It only moves once the man gets the tie from around her neck, stuffing that in her mouth and freeing his hand to hold her wrists. She's still trying to scream, to fight, as the man's other hand moves down to rip her blouse open....

7. Birthday (16, claimed)
She's sitting alone in the living room, dressed casually, reading a book. Two shadows can be seen on the wall behind her indicating that there are people in the other room. One of the shadows is female, with her hands on her hips, the other male.

"You're unbelievable, dad."

It's Susan, sounding angry and standing face to face with her father.

"And you're overreacting. It's not as if I've done something horrible," comes the response from Derek.

"Her birthday was three days ago and you forgot!"

"I was in Tokyo on business. You know that."

"You could've called, sent a card or at least brought her back a gift! You know how hard things have been for her lately, she didn't need her own father forgetting her birthday on top of it all."

"It's just a day, Susan. Stop being so dramatic."

"It's not just a day, dad! It was her sixteenth birthday!"

"She'll have other birthdays. This discussion is over."

8. Weird relationship (16, claimed)
Tommy and Kate are walking through Central Park at night, talking about nothing in particular. Tommy has an arm around Kate's shoulder and she's leaning into his side. He says something indistinguishable and she looks up at him, raising an eyebrow.

"Was that a compliment, Shepherd? That's what? The third one today? They were sincere compliments too, not just your usual "You're hot" kind of compliment. Maybe you hit your head harder that we thought," she teased, smiling at him.

"You've been keeping track?" Tommy asked flatly, and then, as if in revenge for her bringing up that he was acting warm and fuzzy, he leaned down to run the flat of his tongue up her neck, leaving a trail of spit in its wake. "Your perfume tastes gross. That officially negates one of those compliments, by the way."

Her first response to that was to punch him in the gut, which she did, and move away from him.

"I knew that was coming. Ugh," she said, glaring at him and wiping his spit off her neck, "You probably just gave me some sort of skin eating virus."

Tommy let out a noise somewhere between a grunt and a groan, immediately doubling over.

"Ngh, son of a bitch, you hit harder than most of the guys I knew in juvie! I give you skin-eating viruses out of love."

"I reject your love and your spit."

9. Present (16, claimed)
She's in a comic book store with a blond boy, Teddy, looking for a gift for Billy. She's never actually been in a comic book store, so this is a new experience for her. So is the life of a friend of two comic book nerds.

"Thanks for coming with me," Teddy says, looking over a shelf of merchandise, "I'm not really good at this whole gift giving thing."

"It's no problem," Kate replies, shrugging, "Do you have an idea of what you want to get?"

"Uh, not really?"

Kate just nods, walking a little way away from her teammate, looking over things on shelves. She stops when something catches her attention, looking up at it. It's a Captain America figurine. High quality, detailed, hand carved, hand painted, shield is made of real painted steel. Billy will love it, she just knows it. It would be the perfect gift for Teddy to give him.

"What about this?"

Teddy comes over, looking up at the figurine and smiling a bit.

"Billy would like it. But I don't have $250 to spend so I guess I'll have to find something else."

Kate's quiet for a minute before reaching up to carefully take the figurine, giving Teddy a smile.

"Maybe not, but I do."

"Kate, you dont-"

"I know I don't. But a gift for Billy will always be a worthy cause. You don't even have to tell him I had anything to do with it."

10. Skrulls (16, claimed)
Chaos is all the can be seen throughout the destruction of what was once Central Park. Green aliens, Skrulls, are fighting a group of costumed heroes, Kate and her team included. She's right on the front line with everyone else, attempting to disable the Skrulls and their weapons with arrows. Out of nowhere there's a bright flash of light. All that follows that is a sensation of searing heat and pain before everything goes black.

11. Midnight (16)
Kate is lying awake in bed, staring up at the ceiling. One of her arms is in a sling and there's a bandage on her left cheek. There is a knock on her window and she sits up to look, only to see Billy floating outside. He gives her a wave and she smiles a bit, waving back as she gets up to go open the window.

"What's up?"

"Couldn't sleep and Ted still wasn't feeling well so I figured I'd leave him alone. Do you want to come out?"

"Sure."

Billy takes her good hand and helps her out the window, letting her get settled on the blue energy platform beneath them before taking them higher. Soon they're well above her house and he sits down on the platform beside her. They're quiet for a long moment before Billy finally speaks up.

"So. You're really okay, right? I mean, besides not being able to use your arm?"

"I'm fine, Billy. Just like I told Cassie and Eli a million times."

Billy nods and looks away, falling quiet again. He scoots closer to her, putting an arm around her shoulders.

"I was scared, you know? Tommy said that you weren't even conscious when he got to the hospital. Who even knows what those Skrull guns can do. They're basically lasers so I was afraid that you might have...."

Kate just smiles and shakes her head, nudging him in the side with her elbow.

"Oh come on. There was no way I was dying that easily. You guys would be lost without me, I'm not going anywhere. So don't worry about it."

12. Surgery (16, claimed)
Two people in scrubs are carrying her into an operating room, swearing at her on and off and telling her to stop struggling. She won't stop though, keeps trying to wriggle free, to hit them. She wants to get free but try as she might, she can't. They wanted her to be as awake as possible, thus why they didn't sedate her, but that didn't mean they were going to let her get away. They take her over to the table, strap her down and one of the men in scrubs hits her across the face just for being so difficult. Then another man steps up, scalpel in hand. He uncovers her and the scalpel presses into her skin, slicing downwards. She bites the inside of her cheek hard so she won't scream, not wanting to give them the satisfaction. This is about when she notices that they have cards on the tray next to the table, an organ written on each card. To them, this is a game and she's the board.
