Pacific Diving Industries has blacklisted Dell Computers for a good five years now due to their shoddy quality and poor customer service.
Even if they gave assurances, the fear that it would be the same hot air as before when we had problems would keep us from considering them.
In the interim, we have bought 4 PC's (1 is coming in a week, all shiny and new), and 1 Mac. Of the $15,000 spent, none of it has gone to Dell.
You are by no means alone. Dell's are NOT well suited to professional use. I reccomend using a local dealer that builds systems in house and that services machines on-site. That is the best deal in the long run.
Oh, but how can you get the bean-counters to listen?
WOW! that really sucks, and Chris bought me a Dell for my b-day. I was thinking of getting something to back it up and now I feel more motivated. I hope you get some better equipment!
