Annabeth and Percy are going to grow up and have lots of babies in NEW YORK. Once Percy gets back and sees his mom and Paul and his bedroom, he's not going to want to leave again for awhile. I think part of the reason he was so content with imagining a life in New Rome is because he couldn't remember a life anywhere else. Hopefully that'll change now that his memories have returned.

Call me stupid, but where's the Rat Pack thing coming from?

The kids make fun of Chiron for listening to Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra a couple times in the books, and use their music to scare of the Stymphalian pigeons in the second book. Which, boo. Those guys are the exact definition of the word Cool.

Oh! Right. Yes, that rings a bell. You know RR is just trying to be down with the kids.

As a New Yorker who's been transplanted many places I'm going to say that no matter where his family starts Percy and Annabeth will END up in NYC. That city is in your blood and it doesn't go away. Plus I think the connection was just because he'd never seen adult demigods living normal lives.

Plus, I mean...what better place in the US for a budding architect to live? Buildings everywhere! And if it came down to it, I think Annabeth would agree to live near Percy's family before she would choose to live near her own. He's a lot closer to his mom than she is to her dad.

I like to think that too - that was truly one of my favorite parts of Percy's characterization, that NYC was Home and that he loved it.

Yeah, I have to say...okay, let me start this way: I enjoyed the book. A lot, in fact. I liked it much, MUCH better than TLH. It was sweet and funny and overall well done. And now on to some (more) criticism: I felt like Percy wasn't nearly concerned enough about the life he left behind. Yeah, okay, Camp Jupiter is cool, but once Percy had his memory back he should have been bursting at the seams to get in contact with his mom, Annabeth, Rachel, Grover, etc. Instead, it seemed like he was kind of like, "gosh, I sort of miss my old life. Ah well, this is cool too. Can't send an Iris Message? That sucks. Well, moving on." And that's just not Percy. He should have had a feeling like Jason's, that as cool as it was and as much as he liked everyone, he just didn't belong. And that he should be HOME ( ... )

Yeah it was kind of strange - we got glimpses of it, with him calling his mom and hearing Paul on the answering machine and stuff but yeah, Percy was kind of just rolling with the punches. And like, RR tried to justify it with the whole, Percy sees a different future here, but at the same time... NYC is Percy's HOME man. It's his best friend. I just, woe. I missed home.

AND NICO. I don't even know what Nico is. WHAT IS THIS SITUATION.
