I always wondered what Hohenheim's name was. Van Hohenheim Elric? Elric Van Hohenheim? Hohenheim Van Elric? Elric van Hohenheim van Elric? Elric van Elric van Hohenheim van van Elric Elric?

Really...I was always confused. But your idea makes much more sense.

I'm pretty sure in the anime it was never addresed, because he was always called Hohenheim... of Light? Is that right? In the most recent chapter of the manga it goes more into his backstory, but I don't want to spoil you if you haven't read it or aren't reading it. Anyway, I'm glad you liked the story. And also, Elric van Elric van Hohenheim made me laaaaaugh and laugh.

That poor pastor. And I'm waiting on Ed's explosion. *laughs*

I agree with your summation of Hoho and Trisha not being married. That was my immediate thought as well.

Well Ed's already screwed up the first kiss, the first date, the first time sleeping together, and his proposal - for the love of god, at least maybe he can get the wedding right.

...or a catastrophe waiting to happen.

It is a very cute fic, but I was left with a rather uncomfortable feeling of having religious values put on show. Not to criticise you as a writer, but I thought I would leave you with the response the fic elicited from me.

I appreciate the comment! Out of curiosity, would you care to go more into detail about it? I didn't mean it as anything against or about religion itself - it's a known fact that Ed's an atheist, and I don't believe the show or the manga goes into details about Winry's beliefs, though really I meant for the church to be more sentimental that religious, because of Winry's parents.

I think it was the feeling that Ed was bowing to expectations; the perceived ones of Winry and that of Rismbool's populace (although, in the case of the latter, it was somewhat bowing against as well as to).
So, maybe not so much the feeling of religious values being displayed, but more of 'normal' values based on religious ones.

It's possibly just because of my personal philosophy I don't particularly like things being 'normal' though.

Ah - well they're certainly fair feelings, and I'm not at all insulted, honest. If it makes you feel better, Ed's sure to do or say something to wreck up the whole thing and take it out of the 'normal' range.

(And god, do I ever know about 'normal' values based upon religious ones: Mom: "You're getting married in a Catholic Church, right?" Me: "Uhm, let's go back to that part where you said I'm getting married.")

Ooo, this is good. I love how far Ed's willing to go despite his own (very loudly proclaimed) beliefs, and the idea that Winry would want to get married in the church for sentimental reasons is spot on, and doesn't question whether she holds any sort of religious preference one way or another.

Touching on Ed's bitterness over his father and being a literal bastard child is again nice, and contrasts nicely with Winry's parents, and her assumed sentimentality. Keep up the great work! :)

*beams* thank you! I apparently gifted Ed with amazing powers of perception to figure out what Winry really wants, but I guess I gotta cut the boy some slack at some point, especially considering most of these prompts are just him making an ass out of himself. (Why must I hurt the one I love? Why Ed, why?)

(And god, I love Hohenheim. Why don't I write more Hohenheim fic? Ed, you gotta realize you look just like him, right? The annnngst!)

Oh you are going to LOVE the next Div chapter for a little bit of that.

Re: Ed's sudden, amazing powers of perception -
It's surprising, and at first I was willing to simply give Ed his one moment of clarity amidst all the stupid. But when you brought in Hohenheim and Trisha's relationship, it all fell into place and there was an actual, understanable reason for Ed's sudden perception. I think that's what impressed me the most, that sudden falling into place of motive and understanding.

*hugs Ed* He's so sweet when he's not stupid or... stupid.

YES MORE DIV PLEASE. I know I just said that but it certainly bears repeating. MORE PLEASE.

I actually do HAVE a fic somewhere in my folder thats Ed and Winry about twenty years in the future, with an exasperated Winry trying to coax Ed into wearing glasses, but I haven't gotten the nerve to post it yet. God, I really do want to write more fic with Hohenheim. And Trisha. Damn me.

*wails* OH MY GOD, can I keep him?? Please? Such a squee-worthy snapshot. Ooooh, write that story about the glasses. Write write write.

Heee! You can keep him if you can pry him away from the other frothing fangirls, so uh... lemmie know how that works out for you. I'm so happy you liked it!

The glasses story has to be revised before it goes up but... I'm glad to see some people are interesed in it. We'll have to see what me and the beta decide to put up next.
