Keep your own name, Winry. Amestris seems to be a very forward thinking society. *grin*

I CERTAINLY THNK SHE SHOULD. (Then again, I'm an only child myself with no uncles, so I totally admit that this is based upon my own thought processes on the occasion I think about possibly ever getting married.)

I kept MY name when I got married. *laugh* And it's ridiculously common (How many 'Smiths' are there in the world, anyway?).

This might sound really shallow, but I think if my potential husband has an ugly last name, that will most likely be one of the final factors in my decision.

Okay, it's totally shallow - but I like my full name, and it has a nice rhythm. I'm not losing it to something ugly.

Aww, keep the name, Winry. If ever there was a guy to understand the importance of family, it's Ed.

That would certainly be an interesting conversation...

These are great, bursting with angst!

*grin* See, I can do angst on occasion! I just have to make up for it with copious amounts of fluff...

At least you keep Ed balanced, the rest of us just torture the hell out of him. >_

Hey, it may be angst, but there's still fluff there. And I'm totally with evil_little_dog about Winry keeping her own name. Or maybe hyphenating.

Oooo, better yet, ED SHOULD TAKE HER NAME. Yes. I can see it now. Edward Rockbell. *nod nod*

Don't make me hit you, Lyra - Ed

...You know, if Hohenheim's name really WAS Elric and it hadn't come from his mother's side, I actually think Ed could have been talked into it. (*laughs* Who am I kidding?). Maybe instead of hypenating she can just combine them? Rockbelric? (Besides, then it averts the argument over which name comes first. "I think Elric-Rockbell sounds better."

I have to agree with everyone else. Keep it Winry, keep it. (I know I certainly want to keep my family name somehow when I marry, although it will probably be shunted to a middle name...)

I certainly think she should keep it! Then again, as I explained to ELD, because I am a shallow shallow girl what will probably be the deciding factor is exactly what my potential husband's last name IS, cause if it's ugly, then that might encourage me to just keep my own.

If their name is worse than mine, yes, I think I'd be keeping mine too. That isn't shallow, it's making sure you retain your name's dignity and scanability. (As well possibly ease of spelling and scanning.)
