Master Cleanse, Day 1

Aug 12, 2005 17:22

Started the Master Cleanse today. Will be doing it for 10 days. Called out of work because the cleanse requires drinking a laxative tea at night and in the morning, and I didn't know how the tea would affect me. Didn't want to spend my first day of the cleanse running to the bathroom at work every five minutes...or, you know, have something worse ( Read more... )

it's pretty cool. my friend guav (livejournal user throwingstardna) did it a few months back, which is what got me into it. basically, you don't eat for 10 days. you don't starve yourself, either - the point of the cleanse is to get all of the impurities out of your system, refresh your body. the way it works is this ( ... )

wow! thanks for all the information! i had been thinking about doing a fruit fast because i just feel so dragged down lately and i wanted to just clean up and move on and start fresh in so many aspects. what is the laxative tea you drink? do you have to special order it or is it something you find on the shelves?

i got it at whole foods - not in the tea section, in the health section. it's called smooth move herbal stimulant laxative, by a brand claled traditional medicinals. it wasn't too pricey, either - $4.99 for a box of 16 tea bags. and it's not disgusting, which is great because i never take tea without honey and i can't do that on the cleanse.

if you do it, let me know how it goes for you! and i'm sorry you've been having such a stressful time lately. i hope you don't have to give up your pets. fingers crossed for you.

Wow, you don't consume anything except that lemonade for 10 days? That doesn't sound very healthy. Citrus fruits have vitamin C, folic acid, and calcium, but no protein, no B vitamins, and no trace minerals. Maple syrup is almost all sugar. The reason your breath gets stankified during a fast is not because of impurities, but because you are essentially starving yourself and your body is breaking down muscle for energy, which creates smelly ketones as a by-product.

I've heard that fasting for a few days can be good as a break for your system, but I think 10 days might be a bit much. Just my opinion....

Hey lady, thanks for the info! I know maple syrup is mostly sugar, but it does have minerals in it.

I'm not gonna be all gung-ho about this cleanse thing; I'm taking it one day at a time. If I start to feel funny or weak or any pain, I'm going to cut the cleanse short. Thank you for your concerns and your info, it's good to know someone who knows all their shit on this stuff.

and hey, if this doesn't work, there's always colonic hydrotherapy

so long as you don't mind water being pumped into your ass
