I haven't been active on Livejournal for a long while. Looking back, one of the major reasons why I joined LJ is to join fellow HP fans in communities. Now that the last installment of the HP movie series is coming soon, it seems only fitting to come back and post my thoughts about it here.
Words couldn't properly express how I feel about the series finally and completely ending. While it's true that the book series ended two years ago, I haven't felt truly sad because I knew that there were still a couple of movies left to look forward to.
The Harry Potter series has contributed such a huge part in my life. Even though I'm only a fan and have only avidly read and watched the movies from beginning to end and have not been greatly involved in its creation, there's no denying that I grew up with this series. As I'm sure many others have as well.
When I watched the first part of the last movie, I grew teary eyed from the very first scenes shown. The beginning of the film really portrayed the aura of the end. And now as posters of the second part of the film - the final one - are being released, I can't help but feel nostalgic again.
Even though I know that the Harry Potter Universe will continue to live on in Fandom through fans who write stories and create wonderful art for this fictional world, there's still no denying that the Canon will come to a complete end.
I know that many other fans share the same sentiments as I; perhaps even more deeply. The cast of the movie who we've come to intimately associate with the characters in the books have already said their goodbyes to the series as they've wrapped up the filming of the end. In 50 days' time, it'll be our turn to truly say goodbye to the Harry Potter series.
For me, the end is just absolutely nostalgic. Even so, I look forward to the final film and hope that it would live up to all the fan's expectations and really send the series off with an epic end that we'll always remember.
Kudos to J.K. Rowling.
No matter what happens, I'll always be thankful that she's created such a wonderful world that transcends age, race, and preferences. It was and always is such a great world to escape to.
