Thank you so much for commenting, I don't get many comments for this story so you really encourage me to keep going. Do you think I was OTT with the rating because I'm thinking of toning down Arthur and gwens scene to R to make more accessable. Don't worry, chapter 4 is Merlin/shadow heavy and has a generous dose of slash!

I can't believe you recommended my fic! Having only been on lj under 2 weeks, I was resigned to the idea that not many people would read my stuff. So far I've gathered 2 friends! Then you get someone to read my fic and make me feel all great and shucks! Thanks. Do you mind if I friend you? Would like to keep up with your work too

I really like this story! Arthur's double life is intriguing and I can't wait to see how he'll manage to keep his Shadow-self safe. And Merlin! I really like his characterization here.
I hope to see a new chapter soon :D

thank you so much for commenting. You gave real constructive criticism, which I need as this is my first fic. I agree completely about the characters becoming secondary to the ideas. I could feel it as I read back through prior to posting. I think that I tried to put to much information in too few chapters, but I also hoped that once the story ground work was laid, the characters could shine.

Part 4 will be up soon, and is definately a character piece that I had more fun with. As for arthur/gwen? Phantonreviewer thought it was hilarious that I warned for het, but I thought it could traumatise some! Rest assured, this is a merlin/arthur story and the gwen was necessary in earlier parts. I wont be traumatising again as I'm kind of desperate to get to the slash!

Also, I am a multi shipper and love arthur/gwen, although merlin/arthur is my true love. but I would break my own heart if I 1: prolonged arthur/gwens relationship breakdown or 2:kept merlin/arthur apart for much longer!

Your first fic? Wow, what a theme to tackle in your first attempt!
I'm looking forward to the development of the story, characters, and ideas, of course. :)

It was very nice of you to put in the het warning! (Traumatizing is the right expression in my case.)
Unfortunately, the person who recommended this fic forgot to mention it, so I was in for a nasty shock. (Yes, I take Merthur way too seriously, I can't help it. XD)

Sorry, I've been on night shifts and have taken ages to reply to all messages! I too am Merthur obsessed but also feel the need to complicate things a little for them! Don't worry,I'm incapable of writing sad endings (at least I think I am). I'm too much of a sap.
