I would just look at all your choices and make sure it's a place you know you're going to be happy being at.

You'll be spending the next four or more years of your life there so make sure it's a place you want to be. If you can tour the campus, definatly go for it. See what they have to offer you and your education as they'll check to see what you have to offer them by your GPA and such.

College is an important time to grow as a person as well as gain knowledge. Important thing is to make sure the place will make you happy.

I definitely agree -- I've checked out all of the ones on that list except Tufts, GWU, and American, and they all impressed me a great deal. I'm planning on trying another swing by the Boston area my senior year to check out those last three, just in case, but I'm really the type of person who could be happy anywhere. =)

Thanks!

Yeah, but it's good to be safe as college itself can be stressful with the load of work and that's not even at competative colleges. I can't even imagine there, so if you don't enjoy the area you're in it can wear on you a lot more.

I didn't like my college and it ended up taking me up til now to graduate. Given I also had to put it on hold some semesters so I could work to afford it and other things but it also didn't help in keeping me motivated.

I guess in a way if it's something you can help to make you happy def. consider that. If you hate where you are it'll drag down your motivation.

One of my friends worked at admissions for a college and she said that admissions is a very messed up process. Sometimes they accept because of looks or if the person said they liked some band. She told me that colleges look for anything that makes your application more personal so if you're into any hobbies that aren't academic [I did painting, for example] send in some of your work. [Published works, award-winning pieces, etc]

Also, if you look killer in a speedo, that'll probably help.

My friend got into Tufts but she's coming to NYU with me. I only applied to NY schools [rejected from Columbia ...oddly accepted into Barnard though. No idea why.] and one Florida school. Goodluck! And apply to some crappy schools too, because all of my smartpants friends applied only to Ivy Leagues and are now going to the University of Florida. I'm sure you'll get in though. :D

Well, seeing as I went the community college to a 4-year university route, I'm not sure I could offer you a lot of help. I'm fairly smart, but no where near smart enough to get into the places you are trying to. All I can offer you is the best of luck! :)
