I do not believe it. Charlie has done one of the most stupid things someone can do. He hardly knows Katie, in fact, I don't even think he has been with her for more than a month, wait, I know that he hasn't been. It was only three or four weeks ago that he was here at the Burrow asking Arthur and I what he should do with Nicholas and that he loved him. He's not ready for this, he's just not. Yes, Arthur and I eloped all those years ago, but we at least had the courtesy to tell our parents we were getting married (hence why I am no longer a Prewett in more ways than one) and Arthur's parents met me before he proposed to me. Hell...his immediate family, my brothers, Auntie Muriel and our best friends were there. It wasn't a huge wedding party by any means, but we had one, and we had a reception afterwards. But...Charlie ran off without even letting us know who he was marrying, let alone introducing us beforehand. Yes, I know who Katie is, as I've conversed with her once or twice at large functions, but that's not nearly enough information to base any inclinations regarding possible daughter-in-law compatibility.
Furthermore, it is just an insult to me and Arthur that he couldn't be bothered to let us know beforehand, or even invite us to the ceremony. Yes, they're having another one at a later date, but Merlin, it's not going to be the same. It's not going to change the fact that my son chose to exclude me from what's supposed to be one of the happiest days of his life. Am I really that unimportant to my children now that I'm not allowed to be invited to their wedding? First he takes a job back in Romania and now he gets married without even telling me until after the fact. What next? They get pregnant and don't let me know until the baby comes? I'm losing my children all over again, and it seems like not a single one of them gives a damn. They've forgotten Mother's Day and my birthday, and I've let it slide, but when they go that extra step and choose to exclude me from witnessing him exchange wedding vows with the woman he loves (supposedly, we'll see if it holds), that's a step too far for this mother.
I just don't understand how he could do this. They don't have the foundation that's required for a marriage in my opinion, as I highly doubt they've had a fight in this short time period, and Merlin, Arthur and I have been through some things that would break some marriages apart. I'm convinced that if we had not had the foundation we do, we would have divorced long ago. If they make it, good for them. If not, they can't say I didn't warn, as even though I feel better after ranting here, Charlie's still in for an earful.
