Wow!

I thought I was having a crisis of faith recently (I was going to start going back to church... maybe), but pointing out that the Book (or Books) are wrong in parts (and not just the Cathloic ones) ...and I know in my heart they are; then having you re-affirm most of that; just makes me want to go back to the way I live my life:

Do the Best that You can, and Be Nice.

I think that's what they (religions) are trying to get at. But they got carried away in the pomp and ceremony.

and in the writing competitions (which are still held every few years) from which we get "our father, who art in heaven" - The Dead Sea Scrolls, referring to that line, reads only "our father" but hey, they were competition losers.

not to mention the original 30 odd Gnostic gospels which were narrowed down to 4 - matthew, mark, luke and john - when the roman empire decided to become the roman catholic church.

Yep. I was ranting about the ones that are creeping on our society. But we are forced to confront the prejudice of these constantly - having beliefs is one thing, peddling your religion to someone else, or forcing your views on society is what I'm fed up with.

Bhuddism, Hindi(most aspects), Taoism, Shinto, Wicca, even Satanism among others promote a much healthier world view - Sure, the bias is mine, but hey.

I know my angry views are very much standing on the right, but I'm just really feeling that the Moderates are losing their voice to the Conservatives/Extremists, despite having the majority.

Mainly, the point of my rant was that fundamentalism is dangerous, and would destroy science (and thereby our society) to protect their blind lies.

Satanists so get a kick in the balls when it comes to public relations.

yeah, but in LaVey'n satanism, there is no sacrifice - just to live to the best of your abilities (oh, and praise satan for you freedom - huh? why?)

Then there's the recent Luciferian Witchraft, based more on chaos magick than wicca - which does have blood aspects, but hey, they don't claim dogma - so it's perfectly reasonable to pick and choose.

Gee Dave, I'm surprised you didn't talk about Scientology in that little diatribe.

The renaissance was science's way of bucking the system. Sure, religion was still basically in control, but its hard to be afraid of some kindly, white bearded guy in the sky.

Its also amusing how people pick and choose how they live their life. look at the zealot Christians who forget one of the prime parts of their faith is based on turning the other cheek and peaceful protest under all circumstance.. *cough*Crusade'05*cough*

Yeah, scientology has a shitload of money behind it - and therefore the power to advance in society - Jason Lee, Randy, Seth Green, and Napoleon himself (Silly me, i mean nicole's ex, i get them confused cause they're both short and french) lump on to it - but thats cause they're getting massive tax benefits, publicity and pussy to forward that crap - They claim ever increasing numbers, just like Bushies claim they're winning the war on drugs and terror.

It's just Bullshit :)

But yeah, in my view, people really have to look hard at what they are told to believe. Some of this crap just isn't rational, and telling yourself (or worse others) that it's not really like that - is just a butt fucking lie(ie: you are suffering from Meeth, it will kill you unless you get a dick up your ass [but maybe we should just believe in meeth, but we can't be suffering from it or we'll have to get a dick up our ass]).
