Oh man oh man I got my yearly raise. Seven extra cents an hour I AM ROLLING IN MONEY ENVY ME.
Anyway. Time for useless rambling about D.Gray-Man YOU'RE STILL MY FAVOURITE FANDOM BB. o/
So as always with these things don't expect me to like. Say anything more interesting than HEY LOOK AT THAT PICTURE IT IS SHINY this is just kind of how I get my thoughts down.
Chapters 165-170: First off, and most importantly, delicious new uniforms. Unf. Cross leaves Allen a very foreboding message (at the very least, we can assume Cross knew he wouldn't be able to speak with Allen personally for a while. I'm confused as to when Cross actually left this message on Timcanpy though. During Cross and Allen's talk, we see Cross let Tim eat his cigarette, and later Crow!Link tells Rouvelier that he believes Cross put something in Tim. I assume this is referring to the cigarette but. Can you. Like. Leave recorded messages in half-burnt ciggies? M-Maybe Cross can? With. Um. MAGIC. Unless it's something else entirely not related to the recorded message, which means Tim has something else of Cross's that's apparently important enough for the author to have Link mention. POSSIBLY I AM OVERTHINKING THIS how did I get on this tangent wasn't I talking about how Cross made me necro.) and we discover that Allen is chock full o' Noah Crispies. ALSO. In chapter 170 there's a shortish scene with Father Frederico, a STRANGELY ATTRACTIVE PRIEST who not only is mentioned by name but also shows up in manly panels and has a strangely memorable (for me, anyway) character design for someone who appears to be a throw-away random character. IF HE TURNS OUT TO BE A NOAH OR SOMETHING, I WANT MONEY THE RECORD TO SHOW THAT I TOTALLY CALLED HIM BEING IMPORTANT SOMEHOW. Seriously look at his hair that is some goddamn fine hair.
tl;dr - Johnny has bitchin' boots.
Chapter 171: We see Rouvelier (Leverrier? Lvllie? Levie-chwan? IDFK) eating delicious cake while staring at Cross Marian's headblood. I love a man who appreciates a good atmosphere while he dines. Timcanpy appears and rubs his adorable little cheek-equivalent into the headblood sadly and Allen appears to retrieve him. Brief flashback. Allen makes traumafaces. Rouvelier offers Allen delicious cake and Allen refuses FOR SOME REASON. Rouverlier uses this as a segue somehow OH YEAH ALLEN WALKER WELL MAYBE YOU KILLED CROSS. Allen's eye(s?) go funky for a second (or maybe it was just a the artist's way of showing SRSFACE?) and Allen goes NO U and leaves. Rouvelier and Link converse for a while about this, where it is revealed Link blows at his job (way to not be watching Allen) and Rouvelier is sure Cross's apparent death is the work of Central, so apparently he was just accusing Allen for the delicious Allen traumaface. Rouvelier recieves a phonecall from Branch Head Renee. We find out she has the fragment of Akuma Egg.
tl;dr - I think I ship Renee/Rouvelier?
Chapters 172-183: TIMOTHY ARC. You know. I'm still not sure how I feel about Timothy. On one hand he's definately amusing as a character and has an interesting power. But at the same time his Innocence is so very DIFFERENT from what we've seen of Innocence so far in that not only does it not mutate his body even though I-I'm guessing it's a Parasitic but it doesn't even really affect his "body" at all. Instead it gives him the power to astrally project and take over other people and Akuma. And when he takes over Akuma with it they turn into Digimon change form and are purified the moment Timothy leaves them. AND NOT ONLY THAT but his Innocence talks to him and follows him around like a little cheerleader with a funny accent. I do love his scene with his caretaker from the orphanage though. So sweet. BUT HEY HEY LOOK LOOK she says "Until my new residence is decided, I'll be staying with Father Frederico in Londom." OH-HO. STRANGELY HOT PRIEST APPEARS ONCE MORE.
During this arc Allen ends up stabbing himself with Crown Clown to trap a Level 4. Because LOL THIS SWORD DOESN'T HURT HUMANS except oops that right Allen isn't entirely human anymore. And thus we discover that Allen's claim that his sword only harms Akuma and Noah is complete BS because Crown Clown is now 0 for 2 at doing anything other than irritating the fuck out of Noah. IF ANYTHING IT SEEMS TO JUST SUMMON THEM TO THE SURFACE ALL PISSED OFF. Which brings me to wonder. When it is said Allen has "the Fourteenth" inside him, does that refer to:
A. The person formerly known as Mana Walker's brother
B. The person formerly known as Mana Walker's brother's memories of Noah
C. BOTH OF THE ABOVE
I'm guessing C, since not only do we see Creepy Shadow, we also see the Walker brother's curly hair.
tl;dr - Link in glasses!
Chapter 184: The latest chapter. Allen has a dream about being pinned to a...gravestone? by Crown Clown in a ruined city. A ruined MODERN CITY, no less! I spot powerlines, traffic lights, and skyscrapers. A happy, smiling Mana in full clown regalia (when are we going to see a proper picture of him without the clown getup?) beckons Allen (who's name is slowly replaced by the censored name of the Fourteenth, I assume) because "guests" are waiting for him. And have been "for a long time". Crown Clown disappears and Allen turns into a child again (though still with white hair and scar) and Mana takes his hand and they run through the city, Mana now calling him fully by (still guessing, but it seems the most obvious answer) the Fourteenth's name. I guess this represents the idea that Allen is being "taken over" by the Fourteenth, as well as Allen's worries that Mana only saw Allen as The Fourteen, not as "Allen". Also, this is the second ruined landscape to appear in Allen's strange, Fourteenth-related dreams. The first turned out to be the eventual landscape of the inside of the crumbling Ark, as if the dream prophesized it. ...IS ALLEN GOING TO TAKE A TRIP IN A FUTURE CHAPTER TO A DEMOLISHED MODERN CITY? O-oh god. He IS the "destroyer of time", right? Shit guys. D.Gray-Man 2000. I can see it now. ANYWAY. "Allen" wakes up, but the "Allen" who sits up appears to be the Fourteenth in Allen's body THEN LENALEE SPEAKS AND INSTANTLY ALLEN IS ALLEN AGAIN. Also Link is so Victorian. Also I think his hair is still in just a regular ponytail this chapter. HAS HE GOTTEN LAZY? I think this is intersting because if you think abNOAHS NOAHS NOAHS NOAHS NOAHS NOAHS. The reappearance of Tyki and Road! Tyki still has his scars from Crown Clown, which I guess means Allen's scar wont be going away anytime soon either. Tyki's are hurting him and it looks like he smashed all the windows wherever they are (and Road got cut up a little in the process?). He asks Road what this means and we can see a
familar face in the shards of glass lying on the floor. CUT BACK to the Order, and Allen and Kanda are asking about the "new exorcist", referring to Madarao. Didi insists Madarao is just a guard, not an exorcist, and Allen and Kanda don't really believe him because they saw him take out a level 3. Link is silent, not exactly volunteering whatever he knows about Madarao to Allen and Kanda. Bak calls Komui in a panic, asking if Branch Head Renee is there, and not to do anything once she gets there without him. Renee throws open the doors, flanked by Madarao and his sister. She's wearing a fabulous coat.
tl;dr NOAHS NOAHS NOAHS.
