I actually wondered what would have happened if Sam hadn't found out that the thing wasn't the real Dean. There is definitely some fic in that concept.

Also, what if the thing was bred/created to help people and something went wrong? What if something happened to its creator causing it to be abandoned before it could be raised with values or information on its purpose?

Exactly! This character had so much potential for a really interesting background.

What I've been picturing was that the same demon that's been stalking Sam et al, would have eventually met up with this creature and use him/her for his purposes... except Dean killed it, whoops. lol

If Sam and Dean weren't hunting it already, knowing that the danger and possibilities were already there, would Sam have figured out that not!Dean wasn't his brother?
