On materialism. Or maybe just books.

Do books count in the "material" of materialism? This year I've found myself reading just to read. Enjoying reading. This is very new to me. Maybe it's because reading in English became sort of a break from reading (and living) in Spanish. My mom sent me my Art In America subscription when it would come, along with stacks of newspaper articles ( Read more... )

ah yes, books. they can be fun, but make sure you read them in good light. There is a reason book-worms all have glasses

hrm, a longing for ownership of books is something I will never have. My Father has accumulated quite a collection of books over my lifetime and durring most of it i have smelt them, felt them, dwelt with them. (last house? had to strife down the hallway because books lined each side, crawl into my room under a teatering cliff of empty boxed, and lob myself into a bunkbed.. sailing amidst a sea of thrashing novels, short stories, poems, and shakespear)

but if you like em, more power too ya.

and as for some languages lacking separate words for blue and green. I don't think thats nearly as sad as the english language and its lack of languistic difference for the many types of love. (Agape, i like that one)

I love books. I blame that mostly on my English Teacher dad. I have a reading list that doesn't often get shorter than ten books or so, and am always looking for something else.

Recently, I've been skimming the classic books racks at Barnes and Noble. Just today I picked up Cyrano de Bergerac, Frankenstein, and War of the Worlds (none of which I've read).

What kind of stuff do you like? Not all books are expensive, I could find some stuff for you.

Apparently I like EVERYTHING, recently. It has something to do with the fact that, compared to reading in spanish (which I´ve gotten better at but is still time consuming and always seems more boring even if it´s the most exciting story in the world) reading in english is a delight. But the things I´ve read recently include (off the top of my head ( ... )
