Ok, Update:
I got an e-mail from a photography client who was supposed to be sending me a $50 deposit and a signed copy of my contract. Instead- he said that the money was from him, and I was to take a portion of it out- and wire the rest of it to someone in Africa. So yea- HUGE scam! So I started looked into it online and apparently this happens all the time- if you cash the check- the bank cashes it, but then it turns out to be fake which you have to repay. Then you wire the money and they've got your bank info- and they try to suck money out of you forever. I'm not exactly sure how it works- but it makes me really really nervous.
