The devil is in the details.

As in, I would REALLY need a lot more detail before I could help. Whay brand of DVDR and what brand of blank media? What speed is the media rated for? What speed are you burning it at? What OS are you using? What application on the PC? What was the exact error message?

Sometimes the speed of the DVDR, the blank DVD, or even the quality of the media can matter.

I'll have to get home before I can answer most of your questions, but here's what I know from here:

I'm using Windows XP and I'm using Windows Explorer to try copying files to the DVDR drive. It burns CDS OK, but if I have one of these DVD-R blank discs in the drive, it won't even let me copy files to that drive temporarily before burning. The error message is something helpful like "There was an error attempting to copy this file. Retry or Cancel?", and Retry is a nonsense button here.

I'll post more info when I get home.

I'm with chickenhat in needing all the info he asked about. And...

I would definitely look at the speed and quality of the dvdrs you bought. that was an issue for me as well. And even though it's suppsoed to be rated for both +/-, it may not be.

Also, the thing that saved me was a firmware upgrade and that might be something to look into as well...
