Master Post Would You Trade That Heart of Gold For a Minute in My Skin?
Chapter 6, Keep The Change, You Filthy Animal
------
Alex tosses and turns in bed, flipping his pillow to the cool side, trying his hardest just to fall asleep before three tonight. He can't do it, he can't take this anymore. He's stressing out, freaking out and messed up. He doesn't know how he's falling apart so easily, it's him bringing it upon himself.
He wonders if Jack can sleep. He doesn't mean to be so incredibly wrapped up by him, after all, they're only a weekend deal. A thing that happens on the weekends when they have nothing or nobody better to do.
Alex can't tell if it's because Jack has a lack of conscious or if there's something wired in his brain to let him know that this is all okay to do to Alex. He doesn't mean to be rude or harsh, but he can't help but wonder. He's head over heels for Jack, unable to do anything without thinking about him anymore. It's a curse and a blessing all wrapped in one.
There's one Friday where Alex takes an extra shift, making sure that Zack, Pete and all his friends know. He's testing, trying to see if Jack cares at all about him. He gets a text half way through the night from Pete, "jack in site. hes coming over 2 us. prob looking 4 u."
Five minutes later he gets a text from Zack, "he asked about u. and he looked kind of sad when i told him u were at work. maybe hes not in it for the sex..." Alex can't help the face splitting grin on his face the rest of the night.
"maybe im just a really good fuck. u wanna test it?" Alex replies after he finishes work that night, laying in his bed happily.
"no. but im just saying, u should be careful. u should get out ahead. if he turns out 2 be just a filthy animal, walk away and tell him 2 keep the change" Alex frowns at the text that Zack sends. He doesn't like Zack's constant pessimist attitude.
It takes him two weeks until he's able to get back to the club again, his supervisor asking him if he wants to work that Friday, assuming that he has nothing to do. Alex really isn't good at telling him no. He gets a text half way through his extra shift, Pete telling him that Jack asked again. "tell him he has my numb"
The next day he gets a phone call, smiling at the name on the caller ID, "Hello?"
"You sneaky ass bitch, how'd you get your number in my phone?" Jack asks light heartedly, sounding happy that he has the number right.
"I'm just magic," Alex replies, "What do you want?"
"I'd like to take you out; unless of course you're working again," Jack says.
"Just tell me where."
They go out for dinner at a small restaurant in town, just talking for what seems to be ever. "Hey, so you are, like, gay, or bi, or something, right? I'm not just crazy and fucked up in the head right?" Jack asks, shushing his voice so that the people around can't listen in.
Alex can't help but smile at how funny he looks, bent over and nearly whispering into Alex's ear, "Yeah. I mean I'm bi. I'm assuming you are too?" He doesn't bother to hush himself as he's proud to be bisexual. If people are upset by that, as his motto is, they can go fuck themselves.
"You like me," Jack says simply, acting as though it's nothing big to him. Alex tries his hardest not to look panicked after Jack points it out, only failing by Jack's laughing fit afterwards. "It's no big deal."
"Well fuck," Alex says, frowning at the table before looking back at Jack, "That sort of ruins my plan."
Jack smiles at him and cocks and eyebrow, "You had a plan?"
Alex sheepishly smiles back, "Maybe?" Alex offers lamely, "Maybe it was some epic awesome plan that would make you fall in love with me."
"Uh-huh," Jack replies, "I guess I did ruin your plan then."
"Well that didn't go as expected," Alex says.
"You shouldn't expect things from me," Jack says as he steals a fry from Alex's plate.
Alex smiles, "Should I expect a second date at least?" They're out and so far, they're not fucking, so Alex counts this as a date.
"Yeah, you should expect that at least."
