Would You Trade That Heart of Gold For a Minute in My Skin?
Chapter 12, Hello, Brooklyn

------

Zipped up in winter jackets with rosy cheeks and frostbitten noses, Jack and Alex walk through a park near their hotel. They huddle close together, hoping to keep a bit of their body heat. Alex smiles at the younger boy, kissing his nose softly as he smiles. "See that couple over there?" Alex says as he motions to a woman and a man cuddling on the bench, "That's like us; except we're happier. And you're cuter than that guy anyways."

Jack smiles brightly, making the walk worth the cold. He simply replies with a kiss, sending a short of warmth through his entire body. "You're adorable too you know," he says softly as they continue walking through the lightly falling snow.

Jack brushes the snow that's collecting in Alex's hair off of him, still smiling even though the cold is making the insides of his cheeks hurt. For some reason, the winters in New York seem worse than in Maryland, and yet neither of them realize it.

"Look at the tree," Alex points to the tree next to the pathway, a pine tree that's covered in patches of snow, "It looks like the fake ones that my mum used to put in the little model town during Christmas time. It's almost as cute and adorable as you are." Jack replies with another kiss.

He looks at his watch, "Lexy, maybe we should be getting back to the hotel? It's getting sort of late." He pulls Alex to a halt, just holding him and shivering slightly in the older boy's arms.

Alex doesn't let go, holding on as he shivers himself, not caring in the least bit how cold he is though, just happy that he's with Jack. "I want to stay out, I wanna see how the people in New York live it up tonight." He says, running his hands soothingly up and down Jack's back.

Jack stretches his neck up to Alex's ear, the warm breath completely different than the below freezing cold in his ear before, "I think I know how they spend the night."

The next morning, Jack awakes to the sunlight pouring through the curtains, obviously late in the morning. It wasn't until nearly one in the morning that the two had gotten back, not until after two thirty that they'd finally settled down for sleep. Jack looks at the clock on the night stand, which reads 11:57 am.

He rubs his eyes and yawns, looking over at Alex. He's still sleeping, sound and with slightly flushed cheeks still. As if on cue, Alex's eyes flutter open, an immediate smile taking over his face.

"Morning," Jack says as he kisses Alex softly.

Alex nods, smiling a little wider when the two pull away. "I can see it in your eyes." Jack stares at him for a moment, confused as to what Alex is talking about. Alex scoots closer, wrapping his arms around Jack and pulling him even closer, "I can see the happiness between us, and it's not going away any time soon."

Omg. It's done. It seems like forever but only because of the huge break that I had to take because of school, but it's done.
