You've got a good start.

I might recommend that you crop the picture. Bring the child into closer proximity. Crop certainly to where you stopped drawing - no mutilation allowed. Just because you drew it that way doesn't mean it should be framed like that.

I love the O of the mouth. Should there be teeth? Is the finger in the mouth a bit off, too much white or an odd angle?

As mentioned before the fall of the tee shirt is really nice.

You're going to work on the eyes and that will be good. Make sure they track together. Use a circle maker if you have to. I certainly do.

Is this just too much? Just yell at me to shut up.

I think I like the idea of cropping...that way I won't have to worry about a background being to "busy" which would take away from the focal point(the face). The teeth weren't showing when I sketched the prelim drawing, but I could add just a hint of teeth. And not too much at all (joey112)....I love the suggestions. The eyes right now are the biggest concern right now. I will use the circle maker for to be more precise.
