Should i go back to school to get my teaching certification for Art? Do i really think i wanna possibly deal with kids full time? If i dont want to teach in a regular class-room type situation, would it really be worth getting my certification... would it really open up more (better paying) oppertunities for me?

I DONT KNOW WHAT I WANT TO DO!!

Get the certifications that you can and work, I'd say.

I don't really know what I want to do anymore either. Hell at this point I'd be quite happy to be working for Starbucks.

Beleive me Sara I know how you're feeling.

Ok, first of all.. your icon is disturbing.. and that's coming from me...

anyhow, it's nice to know that i'm not the only one thats totally confused and has the degree and the debt to prove it (hehe)

I just dont know if i want to go back to school... cuz i'd almost definatly have to go to IUP for the art ed classes.. and that might me a bit weird to say the least.

From the teacher himself, you should take the time and look at this. Teaching isn't something "you fall back on." Teacher's that have certifications because of "falling back on it" don't last a year and are not effective teachers. There are exceptions, but not many. The only way to be an effective teacher is to love the kids and the work. As much as the kids frustrate me, I still love it and them, so I'll continue to do it. I realize it's not a job I can clock out at the end of the day with, and you take it home with you a lot of times ( ... )

I appriciate the advice Mike, and I know teaching full time is not something "you fall back on", trust me, just in this area I have 2 close friends of mine from highschool that are both teachers, one of which is an art teacher, and i know the choas that the other has gone through/ is going through trying to find a full time position that she wants (she is currently teaching outside of her certification at a catholic school and hates it)

I also know that getting my certification could open up possibilites that dont involve a 'regular' classroom so to speak, esspecially in the Arts... I just have to look more into that to see if it's what i really want to do though.

I'd love to see you when you're out this way if it's possible, why dont you try giving me a call cuz i can never seem to catch you when you're home and i think your mom thinks i'm nutz. :-P
