Has anyone ever been to the Trutle Bay Sundial Bridge in Redding, CA?
If so, what are you impressions?

If not, who is up for a road trip?

I would, except I'll be heading to Milwaukee soon [bet you can guess why...:P]

Needless to say, the Sundial would have to be one of my favorite of his bridges. Little more than a year ago, I was in California, and I kind of looked forward to seeing it. One small problem: Redding is, like, 100 or so miles from Sacramento---and that's where I was flying back home from [I was in LA, then Modesto, and lastly wine country]. Oh well...

I would except I'm all the way in Manila ;D

damn, i've never actually SEEN a Calatrava, except for the sculptures I saw at the MET exhibition. maybe one day I'll see those South Seaport apartments when they're finished. They look awesome.

Funny enough, I've never been to the bridge in Redding (just a few hours from me), but I've seen a lot of his work in Spain and elsewhere.

No problem. These were taken about a week after the bridge opened, July of 2004. Since my wife & I go past Redding around once a year I make a point of stopping and spending some time there when I can. It's a real magnet for families and joggers and such. It's become a real part of the park fabric.
