Title: Parents Were Children, Too
Rating: G for all-out, amazing AU fluff.
Summary: A short drabble written for
all_myarmor about our AU Natsuo and Mitsuki. What if, in a few (read: several) years, they had kids of their own?
AU is AU.

“Help me up!”
Glancing back, Natsuo held his hand out to the boy who was following him up the stairs. The auburn-haired child grinned, brown eyes lighting up in delight. He was carrying a rather large book under one arm, and it seemed to be weighing him down, causing him to stumble back a few steps. But he quickly regained his balance and grabbed Natsuo’s hand.
“Dad, you’re really gonna help me read this?” The little boy looked pleased, glancing from the book to Natsuo.
“It’s are you going to, not are you gonna.” A voice floated up the stairs, soft and feminine in comparison to the males standing on the stairs. Natsuo looked over the head of his son- Eichi (named in irony, he always thought)- towards the woman who was standing at the foot of the staircase. Mitsuki smiled, wiping her hands on her skirt. She had just come from the sitting room, where Eichi had made a mess earlier playing with blocks.
“But mooooom, I just wanna be cool like dad!” Eichi complained, stomping his foot. The weight of the book made him bend backward, and Natsuo picked him up before he was able to fall backwards.
“No, you wanna be like your mom. Trust me.” He looked the little boy in the eye, and Eichi nodded. “But…I suppose you could still say gonna. Just between us, though. Mom’d throw a fit, okay?” Eichi grinned, a devilish smile that was more Natsuo’s than Mitsuki’s, and nodded again.
“Yeah! Dad, you’re awesome!” The boy dropped the book on the floor and threw his arms around Natsuo’s neck. Natsuo waited for the hug to end before walking up the rest of the stairs and putting Eichi on the landing. The little boy flew down the hall, yelling “Gonna, gonna! I’m gonna read now!” at the top of his lungs. Mitsuki and Natsuo could only laugh.
