I just finished rewatching this (first time with subs!), and my day's looking kinda busy tomorrow, so I'll go ahead and post the movie (thanks Dan) and add some context now.

whapseedo... an hour ago i decided to go to archer city (mcmurtry's booked up!); I'll be back to austin and free time on tues or wed. i'll try to include some thoughts between now and then. sorry guys.

if you don't have time to watch it, watch for a few minutes following 11:46 and 24:25 to cherry pick the highlights.

if anyone was curious, i had a pretty good haul. i just bought some grove press 1st editions. the big winner was the image by c. robbe-grillet, but it was probably from susan sontag's personal collection [unless someone played a really great joke]. my gal-pal loves susan, and i thought the metzger movie was okay. i also picked up the margin, upon which borowczyk's la marge [on the list, coming soon!] was based, the party's over because i heard rumors spanish literature did indeed exist after cervantes, and i was curious what that was, and giant dwarfs because it was cheap and handsome.

I'll try and get to this one soon. Sunrise has reinvigorated my interest in silent movies for the time being.

you should follow up sunrise with city girl, which i prefer by a pretty wide margin (and included on my list).

Finally watched this, and was pretty blown away. I get excited when a production has a "small" feel and does so much. And I just found out Film Anthology is getting together an Epstein retrospective this September, so this was a great intro into his work.

Not sure how much you're reading these days, but have you checked out J.M. Synge's THE ARAN ISLANDS? Very similar idea there, and a great book. His plays are great too, if you get interested.
