Here is the idea. Everyone post your 5 Least Favorite FilmsYou may talk about them in whatever capacity you feel necessary. Any and all factors leading to your branding of them as your least favorite are fair game. Since we've been focusing so much on the best, I figured there is just as interesting a conversation to be had about the worst ( Read more... )

van helsing:
mediocre to bad special effects drenched over a plot that left me feeling dumber for having watched it. beloved by a narrow subset of humanity that i can only describe as "ren fair wolf people," a club to which i would be proud to be denied membership.

left behind: the movie:
atheist propaganda. i went in hoping it'd be campy and ridiculous, and sadly, it was not.

the castle of fu manchu:
if there was any action, i could not see it, as it was so poorly lit, half the movie was basically rendered unwatchable. mst3k didn't even make it palatable.

world trade center:
not even nicolas cage in a mustache could make up for the schmaltz and sickening patriotic drivel in this.

the langoiliers:
i think the makers of this wanted to recapture the stand's ratings, but it goes from boring to embarrassing without hitting that sweet spot or ridiculous.

HM: the birth of a nation ("the klan to the rescue!"), pretty woman (sucking and shopping), good will hunting (classist drivel), blue collar comedy tour: the movie (god help me), rent ( ... )

Pretty Woman. I find the idea behind that movie to be completely insipid. If I had seen it, I would probably hate it.
Birth of a Nation. That comment made me laugh.
Thankfully, I haven't seen any of your bottom 5 in their entirety.

I always found The Doom Generation by Gregg Araki to be badly-acted, ham-fisted in its satire and just somewhat shitty in its dialogue.

Additional gripes on the The Boondock Saints: slow-motion used in parts that don't necessitate its use and slipshod Irish accents. The ridiculous machismo really does make the schadenfreude of Overnight (the documentary regarding its director) more potent.

Yeah, I always tell anyone who praises Boondock Saints to watch Overnight.
