I don't forget when I have a birthday coming up (I like to bookmark the day for seeing a movie and doing something fun), but I sure do forget how old I am pretty frequently. And I'm not even 'old' yet. Bummer.
I was brokenhearted when I turned ten. It was the worst feeling, knowing I would never be a single digit age anymore. I cried into the night.
Since, I have been extremely reluctant to celebrate my birthdays. There are more amazing things to celebrate. Like having friends! Or other awesome things. I think celebrations work best when people decide to get together and have random fun - if things are forced on you, like New Years or birthdays and what not, it seems like it's a little silly to really care about an arbitrary thing someone once decided was important for no valid reason that can be applied to your own life. For instance - any day of the year can be a person's new year. Why does it have to be Jan 1? Just sayin'. ;)
I don't know, maybe it's just me but I frequently find myself having profiles in the latter quarter of the year until April saying "almost [next age up]". Maybe it's my mindset that aging is funny n(I am still amused by my grey hairs).

I think once we hit that "adult" plateau, having that extra year under your belt isn't really a big deal anymore, y'know?
