I keep meaning to post about this, but last weekend I went to the Aaron Allston book signing for Betrayal (which I just started reading). He was super nice and funny. Not that many people came, they all went to the earlier signing in Plano/Dallas rather than the far cooler Borders a mile from my place. So the 8 or so of us that stuck around after

Ooooh, that's so cool. I got to meet Timothy Zahn once, and that definitely counts among the highlights of my life. He even discussed the AU script my friends and I were writing at the time with us, since we wanted to know if there was anything about Camaas we might be royally screwing up with our ideas. I'm so glad he has more patience than a lot of authors for fanfic writers. :) But Allston would be amazing to meet, too- I love his sense of humour, and he writes pilots like no one else. So much love.

Zahn would be cool to meet too. Allston was pretty positive about fanfic. He said the publishers didn't generally like it, but a lot of authors had no problem with it. He asked what sorts of things I wrote, though then he said he sometimes hesitated to ask that because he hears things he didn't really want to know about like "Thrawn slash." ;)
