I have a book, and I'd have to go back and look at it, but it tells the story of the sex pistols, and it states that they were put together in much the same way that NSYNC and backstreet boys were. They were put together for a certain look and appearance and that they were never an actual band.
I like the Sex Pistols music, but I remember all the hype and stuff that went with it and that was just ridiculous. There were many better bands in the UK scene at the time. You mention The Clash (their music has really stood the test of time) but there were also great acts like Stiff Little Fingers, The Skids, The Undertones, Killing Joke. My favourite performers to come out of that time are Ian Dury and, to a lesser extent The Stranglers. I do also still listen to some of the American bands that came across here at the time, such as the Dead Kennedys and The Dickies. All good stuff.
I like Stiff Little Fingers. I have heard Ian Dury and I think his lyrics are poetic. I like The Dead Kennedys but I have not heard The Dickies. I was born in 1984 a little late.
